  • While camping in Jasper my Dad and I got up to see the sunrise at Pyramid Lake. It was raining and the sunrise never really developed, but we found some beautiful locations with Pyramid Mountain reflecting on Pyramid Lake.   • We've had a very early spring in Calgary and most of the Jackrabbits have already started to change color from their winter white to the summer brown. This one is most of the way done with only a few large patches of white still remaining.<br />

  • It was a hot sunny day and there were hawks circling high over head. This poor White-tailed Jackrabbit was desperately trying not to be noticed and it laid perfectly still. Why it would choose to do so in the middle of a wide open grassy area I have no idea...<br />

  • These pretty little birds are extremely fast in flight and therefore it's very hard to make good images of them.  Every once in awhile you might find one like this one that is happily perched and in no hurry to go anywhere.  I got to make lots of images and only stopped when I figured that I had enough.   • Wild Goose Island is a very popular destination for photographers to shoot the Sunrise while visiting Glacier Park.  They were lined up shoulder to shoulder by the time I got there, but I still managed to find a nice vantage point.<br />

  • I went out for a sunrise photoshoot with my Dad the other day while he was visiting for the holidays.  It ws really nice to be able to head out at a very civilized time (8:00 AM) and still be there in plenty of time to fully enjoy the Magic Hour.  This is very different from the other seasons where the sunrise is much earlier in the day, and is one of the few advantages that winter photography has over the summer.  I've shot these grain bins before but because of their position relative to the sunrise I knew they would be a good photogenic subject to share with my Dad.<br />

  • The trees in the Calgary area are at the peak of the fall colors right now and they are very beautiful. The ponds at Carburn Park have been completely still every morning lately and I finally had a chance to create some beautiful landsacape images of the park.<br />
