• The hike to larch valley is always spectactular, especially in the fall when the larches turn a golden yellow. We were about two weeks too late to see the best of the show as many of the trees were already barren of needles. It was cool to see a carpet of golden yellow needles on the ground, and we were there on a beautiful blue sky day. It was a great way to end the hiking season before winter hits!

These Gray Jays (aka Whiskey Jacks) were very curious about all the activity on the trail.
The birds and animals were also obviously enjoying the sunshine as they were very excited and frisky!..©2011, Sean Phillips.http://www.RiverwoodPhotography.com
