• Images from a trip to Red Rock Coulee in Southwestern Alberta.

The area is home to hundreds of "spherical concretions", which are huge red rocks that have eroded much more slowly than the surrounding soil. They are similar to hoodoos, which are more commonly found in the badlands of central Alberta.

Red Rock Coulee is one of those extremely interesting places that is unlike anywhere else that you'll ever visit.
• We had read reports that there were lots of waterfowl at Robert Lake and made plans to be there to make images of them in the mornign light. We got there and found the lake practically deserted other than a few geese. There were a few Red-winged Blackbirds near the parking lot, so we watched them for a few minutes before moving on...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

 • I haven't seen that many hawks lately (mostly my fault for not getting out to look) and so I was happy to find several shortly after I started looking. ..It was an extremely windy day and I actually found several of them and none of them were in any hurry to fly into the wind. They were very happy to stay perched in a comfortable location. This one was no different and while it didnt' ignore me, it certainly showed no intereest in leaving either...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

 • I haven't seen that many hawks lately (mostly my fault for not getting out to look) and so I was happy to find several shortly after I started looking. ..It was an extremely windy day and I actually saw several of these beautful birds perched on bales in the same area as this one. Because of the wind none of them were in any hurry to fly away. Rather they seemed to be very happy to stay perched in a comfortable location. . .This one was no different and although it didn't ignore me, it certainly showed no interest in leaving either...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com
