  • There were dozens of deer wandering around in the woods while I was at Carburn Park. Although they completely ignored me (they are very used to people being around in the park) they were very skittish while a pair of coyotes was in the vicinity...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • I was out for a walk at Carburn Park and was very surprised to see a pair of Hooded Mergansers. I stopped to watch and found several more amongst the mass of birds swimming in the lake. These brids are very rare for Calgary and they really only stop here during the spring and fall migration, so it was pretty cool to see them today!..©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • We went for a walk at Carburn Park to look for Chickadees. The birds tend to hang out in the same areas of the park that the White-tailed Deer do, and sure enough we came across lots of Deer during our walk. These Deer are very used to people (many people feed them regularly) and therefore are very curious and hopeful for a handout. I actually had one of them walk right up to me sniff my hands in hopes that I had a tasty treat. Sadly for the deer, I did not. ..©2010, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • I love Carburn Park and I'm always amazed by the things you can see there. Grebes are actually quite common there at certain times of year, but it's surprisingly difficult to get one to pose for a picture while the light is good enough to make something decent out of it. I went back several times after I found this one as it was quite obliging!..©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • After a couple of weeks of -20 °C weather (or worse) we finally had a beautiful day in Calgary so we took advantage of it and went for a walk. • I was standing in the woods watching a herd of deer resting when this one noticed me. It ran straight towared me and then stopped and stared at me. It continued to watch me for several minutes until I was ready to move on. The rest of the herd barely took any notice of me...©2010, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • It has been very foggy for most of the last couple of weeks and everything is covered in a thick layer of frost. The frost on the tree looks pretty amazing in the drab gray light of the fog, and it's even better if the fog happens to clear for a few minutes...©2010, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • We were out for a walk inthe woods at Carburn Park and stopped to watch some chickadees when we realized that we were surrounded by deer. They were obviously used to being fed near there and they came runnin (looking for a handout) as soon as we stopped...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • For Melanie's birthday she had her first sleepover party. We spent most of the day cleaning up and preparing. We finally took a few minutes in the afternoon to go out for a walk and enjoy the unseasonably warm November weather at Carburn Park.<br />

  • It has been very cold in Calgary this week, and also cloudy. So when the sun finally popped out today I jumped at the chance to do some snowshoeing in the outer reaches of carburn park. The birds and animals were also obviously enjoying the sunshine as they were very excited and frisky!..©2011, Sean Phillips.http://www.RiverwoodPhotography.com

  • I saw this Robin taking a bath in the river at Carburn Park. It's the first time I've seen a Robin in the water, never mind actually bathing. It was pretty neat to see!..©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

  • I saw this Flicker while I was at Carburn Park. Initially it was on the ground but it spooked into a tree when I approached. It didn't seem to mind me being close to it while it was perched though, and I was able to get very close and take lots of images...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com
