Early in the day I saw an alert that the Aurora Borealis would be active that night but it was cloudy and raining in Calgary at the time. I kept the idea in the back of my head aboout going out for a drive if it cleared up. It didn't look like it was going to happen until after midnight when all of a sudden the clouds around the city lifted. So I packed up my gear and headed east. The aurora got stronger and stronger the entire time I was out there and it seemed like that was going to continue all night. What an amazing thing to watch!
